Team, we all appreciate a gesture of thanks...right?

The Peak T-shirt has become a familiar part of our season, a small token of recognizing the intense effort we put in during the busiest time of the year.

However, this year, the conversation around this shirt feels different.

Many of us recall previous Peak seasons where our extraordinary commitment—working mandatory six-day weeks and handling record volumes—was recognized with a financial surge incentive. It was a tangible way for the company to acknowledge the physical toll and personal sacrifice required to make Peak successful.

Last year, the financial surge incentive was discontinued, and compensation for our demanding Peak efforts was reduced to an unconditional T-shirt. This year, the terms have tightened further: the T-shirt incentive is now explicitly tied to perfect attendance during the mandatory six-day workweek schedule. This shift transforms what was intended as appreciation into a compliance measure for an already mandatory schedule.

While we value recognition, we must ask: Does a t-shirt truly reflect the value of our labor during this critical time?

When we look at the "Safety Above All" motto and the "Purple Promise," we see commitments to excellence and care. Fair compensation is a fundamental part of caring for a team. Replacing a meaningful financial incentive with a non-monetary item, while simultaneously increasing mandatory overtime, creates a gap between the value we provide and the value we receive.

We are engaging in this conversation because we believe our work is worth more. We are advocating for compensation structures that truly support the livelihoods of the people who make Peak possible.
